I really REALLY want to start blogging more but I've lost touch with the blog world. I guess in a way, that's a good thing ~ means I'm hopefully more present with my husband & girls. I thought about kind of changing it up ... making this blog not just about the family but about life in general & mom stuff like mom tips, recipe exchanges, spiritual stuff. I'm thinking since I live in mommy world, I'm probably not going to have a ton of guys that want to catch up on what's happening with the kids & all my stuff but you never know. I hate to lose touch with leadership, service programming, etc. I need to think about that a little bit. But for now, here is what's up with us.

I'm sick. The doctors don't really know what's wrong {other than my obvious sore throat, fever, etc} but gave me drugs. I'm not supposed to be around the girls right now which is REALLY hard. So, my mom & sister-in-law have the girls today so Micah can work. I'm so grateful & I know that the girls are being super spoiled & loved on. Here is a picture that they sent me of the littlest one at the pool sleeping. Isn't she just so sweet?! Can't wait until I can squeeze her again. :)

Once again, I'm behind!! We went to Disney World in March ~ well, b/c we like Disney World & b/c they were offering free admission on your birthday. Since my mom & I have the same birthday ... we both got in for FREE. The girl is under 3 so she was FREE too. Too bad we couldn't figure out how to get Micah in for FREE. It was a fun day! And it was our last little trip before bambino #2. Enjoy!

The Beach

A couple of weeks ago, the girl & I headed to Florida for a little vacation from Georgia. My mom lives down there so why not go & enjoy the warm weather, sunshine, pools & beach. It really was so NICE down in south Florida. I know why people flock down there in the winter.

Cold Weather FUN

We have surely had some yucky weather lately. Yesterday, it was cold but very sunny. The girl & I thought that it would be a good idea to get some outdoor play time so we bundled up & headed to the playground in our neighborhood. In true little girl fashion, she brought her baby doll with us to play. It was nice break from the interior of our home. When we got back, we enjoyed some yummy hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. Today, it is even colder with a freeze warning coming tonight. Guess we won't be venturing out again soon. Wanna come play? Got any great winter "fun things to do" that you want to share with us?

It's hard to believe that another year has gone by already. How on earth is time passing us by so quickly?! Haley is growing up so fast. We look forward to 2009. Our family will be expanding & that will be fun (& most likely challenging too!) I look forward to building deeper relationships with my husband, my daughter, my family & friends AND especially with Jesus. Can't wait to see what He has in store for the new year. Happy New Year!

Today, Haley got her first haircut. That's right --- she's turning TWO on Sunday & we just got her haircut for the very first time. And just so you know, I haven't even touched it with scissors --- probably cause I'm a wimp & afraid that I would totally mess it up. With GREAT Sadness ...

I really hate the idea that people (you!) might hear our sad news this way but since I know that I don't always see everyone & some of you found out this way, that I better tell you this way. On Friday, I went to the doctor for my 4 week check-up & unfortunately, the baby didn't have a heartbeat. :( We are really sad & at the same time, trusting God & believing that He knows best. And we are definitely reminded about just how fragile life is & how much of a miracle babies are! We are so thankful for Haley Boo! I did have to have surgery --- that was done on Tuesday & I'm recovering really well. Micah & I are both grateful b/c my mom was here already to help with DRIVE so she ended up being my nurse. And a huge thanks to Rachel for taking Haley for us during the day! I have great friends & family. I don't know how I'll be emotionally as the days progress --- we'll definitely appreciate your prayers. THANK YOU!

What a great day --- the weather is just perfect! Hope you are able to get out & enjoy it if only for a few minutes. I thought it was time for an update. Haley loves to sit in boxes, baskets, etc. In this picture, she cleaned out all the diaper changing stuff so that she could sit in the basket. How cute is she!?

Sometimes in the mornings if Daddy leaves early, we like to take a couple pictures to say "Good Morning!" Here is one of today's pictures:

Sometimes when I need to get ready in the morning, I let Haley watch a video in my room. I was brushing my teeth & when I turned to check on her --- she had climbed up on the bed & was trying to change the channel. She is quite the climber!! (Yes, that is a HUGE pile of laundry on the floor that needs to be folded. Shhh, don't tell anyone!)

So, you might be wondering what happened to us --- well, I don't really know. We just haven't been on the blog lately doing updates. But in case you didn't hear our news --- we are expecting baby #2 in October. We are very excited & I'm just a little freaked about having two kiddos. I know it will be fabulous --- just not sure I can handle it. Oh wait, maybe that's b/c I'm nauseous & sick right now not to mention the 6+ weeks of other illness that have plagued our household. Anyways --- can't wait to meet our new bambino! Pray for us to get healthy & stay healthy. :)

Consignment Sales

I love consignment sales! They are the bomb diggity. If you don't go to kids consignment sales, you are missing out on the fun & the bargains! This past weekend, I went to a couple different sales & got lots of great summertime clothes for Haley & she got 3 fun toys. See this little rider thing --- she loves it! And it was only $4. You can't beat it ~ really, you should go!

When you go to the hospital to get tubes in your ears, you get to pick a toy to take home with you! Mommy helped me to pick out play-doh. I have never had play-doh before but we got to play with it the next morning! It was lots of fun. Check it out.

The 5-Minute Surgery

Yesterday, we took Haley in to have tubes put in her ears. After having 3 ruptured ear drums, that's what the doctor recommended. We were out the door by 6:15 a.m. --- way too early for all of us. Our appointment wasn't until 9:10 a.m. but we had to be there 2 hours early. We hung out in the waiting room for an hour & a half then back to the pre-op room. We were happy to see toys at all locations! Haley plays before she gets her snazzy gown:

The doctor was running an hour behind! Yikes --- but once we got Haley in, it only took 5 minutes. Crazy! And here she is on the way home. What a trooper!

What in the world?! Sandi said I was tagged. She says I have to write 7 interesting things about myself. I hate writing stuff about myself --- I think because I don't know that I'm all that interesting but I'm going to give it a go. It's all because I love Sandi. (BTW, I'm going over to Sandi's when she moves in her new house --- no invitation & I'm gonna hang out all day. Anyone wanna come?)

• I'm the shortest person in my family --- well, except Haley now.

• I said to myself (yes, I guess this means I talk to myself) --- "I'm going to marry that boy" before Micah ever asked me out on a date.

• Speaking of Micah, we got married on the beach in Florida & I would HIGHLY recommend it.

• I became a Christian when TWO old men showed up at my door in 1997 & offered me cookies. Cookies & Jesus --- fabulous combo!

• I love Rachel's lemon cake - yummy!

• I grew up in Florida but I don't like seafood.

• I was a lifeguard throughout high school & college. And I loved it --- except getting poop out of the pool & cleaning filters.

Yogurt

Haley really enjoyed her yogurt. She especially enjoyed the fact that she was a big girl & got to hold the spoon & yogurt container by herself. However, I was a little less crazy about the MESS (the bath, the laundry, etc) that was needed following the yogurt incident. Ugh! Can't wait for summer time when I can just hose her down outside. :)

Christmas! It is finally time for us to move into the Christmas spirit. So tonight, after a very, very long day of fighting with comcast (still have no internet at home) ... we decided that ice cream & a Christmas tree was just what the doctor ordered. We got ice cream & Haley had her own cone ...

But we are sad to report ... NO TREE. We normally go to the Home Depot to get our tree but this year, it was a very sad sight to see. VERY FEW TREES to pick from. Oh wait, it is like 2-3 weeks later than we usually buy our tree. Hope we find one tomorrow! Anyone got an extra Christmas tree laying around?? Haley still enjoyed the ice cream (& we did too). :)

Haley's Doctor's Appointment

this morning, i took haley to the doctor's office for her 15-month check-up. i have yet to understand why they lock me in a small room with a 15-month from 30 minutes to an hour without toys or books or anything. what do they expect me to do with a wild toddler? needless to say, we ran around the room. haley got into everything she could while i tried to keep her from digging in the trash or better yet that thing were they dispose of needles under the sink. luckily, we found a bouncy ball in our diaper bag - that works well to entertain a toddler. however, we did resort to putting on her winter hat & letting her run around looking so cute. oh wait, she took off her sock too ...

by the way, she is growing like a weed ... weighing in at 26 lbs (90th percentile) & she is 32 3/4 inches tall (97th percentile).

ps. did i mention that she peed on me after the doctor came in? memories!

My First Pony Ride

friday night, we went to fall at the farm. it is a staff event for mommy & daddy. it was lots of fun. i got to ride a pony for the first time ever! they also had bluegrass music, face painting, family photos, funnel cake, hay rides, a bonfire & much more. i even got to pet big horses in the barn. can't wait for next year! wanna take me on another pony ride?

Pumpkin Festival

mom convinced daddy & lia's parents that we should go to the pumpkin festival at stone mountain on friday morning. daddy wasn't too sure about such plans but we set out early with high hopes & a run through the chick-fil-a drive through. we got there a few minutes before they opened at 10 a.m. only to find out that most of the fun stuff (ok, all of the fun stuff) didn't open until 11 a.m. yikes! why do they do that?? we had lots of time for some pictures with the pumpkins ... good deal for you, huh?? enjoy! ps. it was great to be outside running around & enjoying the weather!

My Dad

today is the day that my dad died one year ago. this blog is usually filled with happy pictures & words from haley. i felt like i should just take a minute to say a couple things about my dad. i miss him - i know that's a duh to most people but i thought i should just say it. he died right before haley was born & i miss him being her grandpa! he would have been wrapped around her little finger. :) he was a great dad to me (& adam). he would have done anything for us. and i have thought a lot about his death ... how sad that his life ended to cancer. but you know what - i am not mad at God about it. you know why ~ God was so faithful. i prayed for dad & didn't know how things would ever change for him - he was so angry about religion & God. but through the years, God softened his heart & my dad entered into a personal relationship with Him. i am SO GRATEFUL for that relationship. it was more than i ever could have asked for & more important than his life on this earth. dad will be with God in heaven for eternity. boy, do i still miss him?! wish we had more time ~ a lot more time but we didn't. i'm bummed about it ~ don't necessarily understand why he had to leave this earth when he did but it is nice to know that i'm not in control. aren't you glad too? a couple of dad pictures ...

Vacation ~ Yippee!

mom, dad & i went on vacation towards the end of may. we went to the beach ~ you might have seen a few pictures already. the pettys joined up with us towards the end of the week. i thought you might wanna see some more pics. i'll keep adding some beach pics over the next couple of days. enjoy!

look at us girls. we are just chillin' in the backyard. we don't have a community pool so mom & miss rachel improvised & made us a pool. it was so much fun & definitely not too deep. check out our own personal lifeguard - i felt really safe!

A Day At The Beach

ok, maybe it was only 10 minutes but what's the diff?! i loved the sand ... i mean, i loved to eat the sand. have you ever tried eating sand? it is very tasty - a little gritty but tasty none the less. and the water was amazing - i loved having waves roll up over me. hope we get to go back soon! wanna come?

yesterday, i started saying da-da! it is really cool & my daddy loves it when i say his name. is that how you spell da-da? i don't know how to spell it - i barely know how to say it! daddy has been on vacation with me for TWO weeks. today, he goes back to work. i'm gonna miss him a bunch!! check us out - we are cute, huh?

when i went to florida, mom & grandma let me eat in my diaper. you should try it - it is really fun. you don't have to worry about spilling on yourself. have you ever tried eating in your underwear?

while i was in florida, i got to meet my new friend page. well, we aren't new - i'm almost 9 months old & page is 4 months old. we just hadn't met yet. our moms have been friends for years - i mean years. we won't talk about just how old they are - mom said that's not nice. anyhoo, i thought you should check out these pics ... this was the first time that i was the older kid. whatcha think? did i do a good job?

last week, i made my first car trip with mommy (& sunny & dora) to florida. we dropped sunny & dora off in tampa so that they could visit dora's grandma. and then we went to visit my grandma in fort myers. she took me swimming in her pool. it was a blast. thought you might enjoy this pictures. i have much more to tell you about my trip so i'll get mom to post some more pictures soon. wish you could have been with us enjoying the sunshine.

Happy Easter - A Day Late!

mommy & daddy were real busy on easter so i didn't get to tell you HAPPY EASTER! we did get to celebrate but it was late in the day. my friends came over to help me find eggs in the backyard. it was really fun cause our eggs had cheerios in them. does everyone have cheerios in their eggs? i'd love to know.

look at me! i'm standing up in my crib. i just learned to do this the other day. it is so cool to just wait on mommy to get me up from my nap time. yippee! sometimes, i even stand at my crib at the beginning of nap time & hope that mommy will come & get me so i don't have to nap. sneaky huh? don't tell mommy!

today, i had a new friend born - lily hawthorne. i can't wait to meet her. her mommy had a c-section - what a different way to be born??! other than that, i have been just hanging out with mommy & daddy. we did a little shopping but dad didn't find any new shoes. but mommy got a new necklace & i think it is real cool. i try to get mommy to let me have it but she won't. not sure what that is all about - i usually get what i want. gotta run, it's my bedtime. nite-nite ~ haley

My New Blog

hey ... i have finally convinced mom that i need a new blog page. i know, i know, it took awhile but it worked. we are going to try this new blog page out for awhile & see how it goes. in the meantime, i think mom & dad are going to work on revamping our website! i'll keep you posted on that progress.

i'm growing up really fast or at least that is what mommy & daddy keep telling me. i learned to crawl & honestly, it is great cause i can get all my toys.

mom & I went to the park today for the first time. and i got to swing! it was so much fun that it made me laugh. we didn't stay long cause it was lunchtime & i really like to eat. mom forgot the camera - sorry about that. we'll catch a picture next time.

but i thought since it has been awhile, maybe you wanted to check out some recent pictures.
